African Borderland Research Network

PDF Print E-mail

We invite all scholars and institutions interested in African borderlands to join the network.

A small annual fee is used to keep the network running.
The money that will accrue from membership fees will be used to support ABORNE activities. This includes maintenance of the website and support for future events within the network.

Members have access to the member area of the website (currently under construction) with news, announcements and draft papers submitted by network members for limited circulation.

Members will also be able to participate in future ABORNE meetings at a reduced registration fee where applicable.

Our annual fees are:

Students 5 Euro
Researchers 15 Euro
Institutions (with access for up to 10 individual members) 150 Euro

For enquiries about a possible waiver for Institutions and scholars based in Africa, please send an e-mail to treasurer(a)aborne.org

You have three options to pay:

1. by transfer to a regular bank account.

The account details are
Account holder (surname): Zeller
Account holder (first name): Karl Wolfgang
Name of bank: Sampo
Country: Finland
IBAN-account number: FI8680002050184620
BIC/SWIFT code: DABAFIHH

2. via Pay Pal.

If you know how to use it, please send your fees to
treasurer(a)aborne.org

If you don't know how to use Pay Pal and want to find out more, go to
https://www.paypal.com/

3. You can always pay in cash at ABORNE workshops and conferences. Some members have successfully sent Euros in cash by post to Wolfgang Zeller, and if you trust that option this is fine.

Cheques unfortunately are no good, as the fees to cash them in are usually higher than a regular annual membership!

If none of these options suits you or if you need further information, please send an e-mail and we will try to sort you out: treasurer(a)aborne.org

No matter how you pay, please also send an e-mail with the following information to treasurer(a)aborne.org

your name
e-mail address
home institution
link to your institutional/project/personal website
geographical area (s) of your research
This information (except your e-mail address, to avoid spam) will appear on the ABORNE website's list of members and map of research areas.

Once your funds or requests and contact details have been received, we will create a user account for you, and e-mail your user name and password. To change those later, please log in and go to the section "Your details" in the "Member Area" (only visible after login).
